Around 7:30pm, someone Elder John and Akash ran into in the mall came to visit us to do a little presentation about Wisdom Academy. (I took minimal notes during their presentation, but hopefully it's enough information to give you a glimpse of what they're doing).
Basically, Wisdom Academy is a school where they educate young children in the slums. They teach all different subjects, and they also teach about faith in all these courses.
One day he was walking through the city, and he saw a child eating out of the dump that people spat in, and after seeing that he decided to do something for the city. He was running a tourism business in 1997, but he got very tired of it. One night in the year of 2001, he decided to follow God's voice telling him to "Do your work", and that's when he completely surrendered himself. This was also the year he got married to his wife, who was beside him. In 2005, they got a chance to start a small ministry at a small slum. They stepped in to this ministry with very little.
Coming forth to 2010, they are now working in three slums in total. The slums represent another side of Jaipur, which is usually known for it's busy city, shopping and tourism. Many children suffer with an eye flu caused by urine infection. There are currently 130 members of the school who came to know Christ and 70 of them are school children, but only 35 of them come out.
When we asked them what we can do for them, they hoped for two things;
1. They asked us to pray for the children.
2. They also hoped that we would visit them, because they are in great need of teachers and volunteers, and do as God leads us.
